History

History

More than 130 years ago, a young Miguel Escorihuela Gascón arrived in Argentina from Aragon, Spain, armed with agricultural skills and an entrepreneurial spirit. In 1884, Gascón bought his first vineyards and built his winery in Mendoza. By 1910, he had become the fifth wealthiest person in Mendoza and was officially bestowed the honorable title of "Don."

In the 1940s, our winery became the first in Argentina to bottle a pure varietal Malbec wine, turning the world's attention to Mendoza. Today, we carry on the heritage of Don Miguel Gascón and his legendary Malbec wines at the very site where his winery first opened its doors 130 years ago in Argentina's historic wine capital.
